Truly a gripping page-turner, well-written, too!
I could not turn the pages fast enough. The rhythm of this book is perfect: slowly,it is revealed that something has happened. Gradually, through interleaved flashbacks of the near and distant past, the pace picks up, with ever increasing foreshadowing, until I ate supper reading, something I never, ever do. This is a thriller and a romance and a coming-of-age novel, all rolled into one. Supremely readable, with a truthful ending, justified by the story that has been told.
And it is "literary," too. The writing is beautiful, and there are no trite, commonplace observations: the truth, and only the truth.
