fun book for teens; parents may want to preview it or discuss some of its themes before letting kids read it
This is quite a fun book about a tough, strong "tracker" with goals to obtain a coveted promotion and to get a man who attempted to kill her father. It's really quite an enjoyable, easy read about a unique culture ("trolls," though they're mostly attractive, there are several distinct types, and most can pass for human). NOTE: this doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but nothing is resolved either--it leaves you at a point where the plot has thickened, and people are heading back home to regroup. So if you're the kind of person who likes a more resolved ending, you may want to wait until the sequel is out before buying this one.
Notes for parents:
* This does get a bit gory a time or two (for example, talking about a culture that boils babies alive to determine whether they're changelings, and a throat slit with rusty metal)
