A beautiful book befitting an amazing comics achievement
Only an ingrate or a philistine would knock this book for being "too big" or "unwieldy." This book is perhaps the pinnacle of achievement in the recent renaissance of classic comics reprints. Yes, it's mamoth: it collects McCay's entire Little Nemo at (or damn near) original newspaper size. That alone is worth celebrating, but Taschen--a publisher renowned for their beautiful and generally affordable art books--brings their considerable experience to bear on this project, producing a truly grand example of bookmaking, with lovely choices throughout, from linen endpapers to cover embossing to smart, pleasing interior design. Thoughtfully, the book comes in an extremely sturdy carrying case with handle (!) that protects this volume's corners from accidental bumps and dings.
