It lay around for days so I could just open a page an re-immerse myself in its power and clarity. Then after seeing the film "Selma" a few days later I just wanted to read it again. Finally I passed it on to my (sometimes dismissive) 9 year old son whose assessment was "pretty cool!" I think this book is an evocative window into a place and time, as well as an essential primer on the real unsung heroes of the civil rights movement, who gave and risked so much to make us all more free.
